West Bromwich Conclave Excel with Charity Support
A local charity in Sandwell that supports some of the borough's most selfless young residents has received a significant boost to its creative facilities. Sandwell Young Carers welcomed representatives from the West Bromwich Conclave of the Order of the Secret Monitor (O.S.M.) for the presentation of a £1,000 donation. This gift, boosted by match-funding from the Order’s central Benevolent Fund in London, will transform the charity’s music and performance arts room at their West Bromwich headquarters.
The funding will provide a dedicated computer workstation and industrystandard music authoring software, allowing young carers to compose, record, and edit their own music. For many of the service users—young people aged 5 to 18 who care for siblings or parents with disabilities or chronic illnesses—this room represents a rare space for self-expression and relief from the pressures of home life. The cheque was presented to the charity by Right Worthy Brother Ian Bennett and Worthy Brother Ravi Sian.
"We are delighted to support such a vital local cause," remarked Wy.Bro. Sian. "Seeing the work Sandwell Young Carers does to ensure these children can still 'be children' is incredibly moving. We hope this technology helps them find their voice and perhaps even a lifelong passion for music." The essential work of Sandwell Young Carers extends to comprehensive advocacy, ensuring these young people have a voice in the health and social care decisions affecting their families. They also provide practical life-skills workshops and organised trips away, offering much-needed social interaction with peers who share similar life experiences.
